I broke these self-love journal prompts into four sections. Get to Know Yourself, Cultivate Self-Love, Acts of Self-Love and Acts of Self-Care, and In Conclusion. Feel free to follow the prompts in the order I’ve put them in, or choose whatever order you’d like.
The beauty of journal prompts, you can choose how you want to go about doing them.
You could do a self-love journal prompts “challenge” and do one each day.
Or, you could choose to do one section at a time on different days.
You could also do them in the comfort of your home, or go to a coffee shop, get your favorite drink, and work through them.
Maybe these are what you choose to do on your next solo date.
The possibilities are endless.
Some of these self-love journal prompts may be heavy for some people.
It is okay if you’re not completely in love with yourself, have your life together, and can easily answer these questions. On the contrary, these questions are meant to challenge you. Help you think. And help you grow.
We are all on our own self-love journeys. Remember to take it at your own pace, listen to what your body and heart need, and be patient with yourself.
Self-growth is hard, scary, and admirable. I respect anyone who chooses to better themselves. You are strong, and not alone.

I. Get to Know Yourself Journal Prompts
I want to start these self-love journal prompts off by reminding you of who you are, what your interests are, and maybe some things you haven’t thought about in a while.
You know when you meet someone new, or you’re in a group of new people, and the inevitable question of “What do you like to do for fun?” comes up. I swear every interest I’ve ever had leaves my brain whenever I’m asked that question. Can you relate? Maybe this will help you think of those things and you could actually give an answer you like.
You are an entire human. With interests, memories, and experiences.
We can all get a little lost in life, so thinking of ourselves and our interests can help us connect to ourselves.

Relationships are hard, and that includes the relationship we have with ourselves.

III. Acts of Self-Care and Acts of Self-Love Journal Prompts
Self-care is important. Point blank. We need to take care of ourselves. We need time for ourselves to connect, recharge, feel good, and take a break.
Also, self-care is not limited to lighting a candle and meditating (although that is still important).
There needs to be more praise for the self-care that isn’t always pretty.
Regularly bathing and taking showers. Brushing our teeth and flossing. Making sure we’re putting food into our bodies that make us feel good, whatever that looks like for you. Going to doctors and dentist appointments. Those all count as self-care too. Adulting is hard and can suck sometimes.
We should be praised more and should praise ourselves more, for taking care of ourselves and our bodies.
- In what ways can I listen to my body? What does my body need today? This week? This year?
- In what ways can I listen to my heart? What does my heart need today? This week? This year?
- What self-care activities do I actually enjoy doing and genuinely feel like self-care?
- What are my favorite acts of self-love? How do I show myself love? What acts of self-love do I want to try?
- What are my favorite acts of self-care? How do I practice self-care? What self-care activities do I want to try?
- What act(s) of self-care can I do today?
- What can I do that is fun, playful, or creative when I need some self-love and self-care?
- How can I show myself kindness? Today? This week? This year?
- What can I do to show myself love on hard days when I need some extra love?
