1. Love Myself – Olivia O’Brien

I love Olivia O’Brien’s music. It’s real, vulnerable, and relatable, while still being badass and empowering. This song perfectly encapsulates the struggles of loving ourselves and why it is number one in this playlist. There are a million uncertainties and things we ‘should be doing’. Everyone else tries to have an opinion about your life. That’s why we must love ourselves before we love anyone else.

2. Numb Little Bug – Em Beihold

This song perfectly illustrates life struggles, especially those with mental illnesses and neurodivergencies. Life is exhausting. Trying to be happy, to care, use coping mechanisms that don’t always work, and just trying to survive in this world in general. This song reminds us that we all go through similar struggles, and we are not alone in that. Even if it feels like it sometimes.

3. Happy – Julia Michaels

For someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, when I first heard Julia Michaels sing “I just want to be fucking happy”, it felt validating. Our society is obsessed with being happy. We all strive for that. And it is fucking hard to achieve. That is what we all want, to be happy. And it is so defeating when we try so hard and try our best and it doesn’t always work. Sometimes we just need to listen to music that validates the struggle.

4. Sadness – Noah Cyrus

Acceptance of our sadness and demons is the theme of this song. We try so hard to fight to be better and work on ourselves, and it’s exhausting. Maybe we don’t need to fight and instead should accept all the emotions and faults and sadness as they are.

5. Various Storms & Saints – Florence + the Machine

When Florence Welch sings the lyrics, “Can people just untie themselves, uncurling like flowers, if you could just forgive yourself”, is such a beautiful line. The endless self-love and possibilities we could have if we forgave ourselves and untied ourselves from every burden and expectation. Admittedly, every line in this song is immaculate so I recommend listening to it with the lyrics. I cannot praise Florence Welch’s music enough, it will genuinely heal your soul.

6. Warrior – Demi Lovato

We’ve been through so much in life. We are battling through struggles, relationships, ourselves, our mental illnesses, or even physical struggles. We’ve all been broken down. But you can take your power back. You are a warrior.

7. Alive – Sia

Depression can make you feel worthless and hopeless. It focuses on everything negative. This song is not only beautiful but reminds me that I am still breathing, I survived, and I am alive. There is so much power when Sia sings the word ‘alive’, it is incredible healing. You are strong, you’ve fought hard in life, you are still breathing, you are ALIVE.

8. Who You Are – Jessie J

The lyrics of this song are so powerful. “Don’t lose who you are… it’s okay not to be okay, sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart, tears don’t mean you’re losing, everybody’s bruising, just be true to who you are.” At the end of the day, as long as you are being true to your genuine and authentic self, you will figure it out and create the life that you want.

9. Easy On Me – Adele

Would this be an ‘in my feels’ playlist without Adele? This song illustrates compassion for anyone who made big life decisions in the past due to life circumstances and having the best intentions, and sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Yes, it’s ‘take it easy on me’ to whomever she’s speaking to, but I also believe it’s a good reminder to take it easy on yourself, too. You are human. You’re allowed to make mistakes, be flawed, have every good intention, and still fail. Take it easy on yourself, and give yourself some grace and compassion. You deserve that.

10. You Say – Lauren Daigle

With Lauren Daigle’s powerful voice, this song demonstrates when you are in the depths of a breakdown, of depression, or whatever your lowest point looks like. And you are reaching out to whatever you believe in to give you strength and remind you of your worth.

11. Rise Up – Andra Day

Again, with Andra Day’s gorgeous voice, this song reminds us that no matter how many times we’ve fallen, we will rise. It’s important to keep trying. To have hope. Even if you need to have a good cry on the floor of the shower and completely break apart. If you’re strong enough to survive and keep breathing, then you are what this song is all about.

12. Rainbow – Kacey Musgraves

In our struggles, we sometimes get stuck and can only see our struggle and the dark clouds around us when we are in survival mode. It can be hard for us to see the truth of our situation. Sometimes it takes another person, or even a therapist, to help us see that we have always had a rainbow too and that there are light and colors when we can let go of our storm.

This would be a great playlist to listen to while you’re journaling. Here are 4 budget-friendly journaling supplies that will make you actually want to journal.

13. GIRL – Marren Morris

Anyone who identifies as a woman relates to the struggles of carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, especially those around us that we care about. We absorb all the anxieties, emotions, worries, and struggles of those we care about. We are empathetic and just want everyone to be okay. That can be defeating, and exhausting to carry all of that. You are okay, everything is going to be okay, and everyone is going to be okay.

14. HOPE – NF

NF’s music honestly slaps every time, if you ask me. With his newest album, HOPE, it feels like it came at the perfect time for my life. His music is real and vulnerable, especially in this album. Plus, being in my late twenties, it perfectly sums up everything we go through during this age. This song is about reclaiming your power, it’s our turn. Listing his definition of success is incredibly powerful, and is one of those moments where an artist can put your thoughts into words that you didn’t know you had. If you don’t believe in yourself and have faith in yourself, how do you expect anyone else to? “I’m taking the reins”. Genius, empowering, and validating. I recommend listening to this song with the lyrics.

15. Alright – Charlotte Sands

Again, another amazing artist with music that is honest, real, and vulnerable. “No I’ll never be alright, but maybe I’ll get close,” was a lyric I needed to hear during one of my dark depression moments. We try so hard to be okay, while fighting against mental illness and other barriers. There is so much pressure to be fine. Sometimes it’s good enough to get close enough. It’s good enough to have hope. “All my monsters live in the mirror, so I stare them straight in the face, tell them even though I’m lost, I’m not afraid.” Glorious.

16. Exhale – Sabrina Carpenter

This song genuinely feels like an exhale. “Can I breathe?” We all have pressures from the outside world, and pressure we put on ourselves, and it can be too much to handle sometimes and reach our limits. It’s okay to exhale, take a break, take a breathe.

17. Turbulence – P!nk

Heavy things happen to all of us. It’s easy to get lost in the darkness. “…if you’re alive then it means that you’re committed to survive, that’s enough to drain the life from you sometimes…when it hits, don’t forget, as scary as it gets, it’s just turbulence.” As scary and heavy as it is, it’s temporary. It won’t last forever. You will get through this.

18. Where It All Begins (feat. Lady Antebellum) – Hunter Hayes, Lady A

Your lowest points in life are where you learn to stand and find out who you really are. You may feel defeated and broken, but “this is where you fall, this is when you get up, this is where it all begins.” This moment may be your greatest new beginning.

19. Second Wind – Marren Morris

People will try to break you, the world will wear down on you, and life will have its struggles. “Say what you want about me… you can hate me, underestimate me…just when you think I’m at the end, I’m gonna catch my second wind.” You may be knocked down, but you can take your power back. You are strong and capable of so many amazing things.

20. Love is All Around – The Wild Honey Pie Buzzsession – Bad Bad Hats

I love the version of this version of this song. Bad Bad Hats brings a more calm and gentle approach to this song, and it’s beautiful. Sometimes we just need a song to uplift us. With everything negative in the world, love is all around us, and “you’re gonna make it after all.”

21. Doin’ Fine – Lauren Alaina

Everyone is broken.  We all go through so much in life, and we get good at hiding how we’re really doing, but we don’t have to be okay all the time. It’s enough just to be “fine” because you’re still here and trying your best.

The Ultimate List of Amazon At-Home Self-Care Essentials

This is easily one of the most beautifully written songs I have ever heard. As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, the lyrics speak to me on such a deep level. But also, as a human being. “Put your sword down, dive right into the pain” touches my soul every time I hear it. We constantly try and work hard to be better and it feels like a constant battle. Sometimes we need to stop fighting ourselves and accept things as they are, because we are good enough just as we are. Right here, right now.

23. Bastards – Kesha

Don’t let the negative people surrounding you bring you down. Don’t let them get you down, dim your light, or win. You are amazing, brilliant, beautiful, creative, strong, and everything else in between. Life is hard enough as it is, “don’t let the bastards get you down.”

24. Decide to be happy – MisterWives

This song describes the struggles involved with mental health, and not feeling like yourself. Sometimes you just have to choose to be happy because your brain can be your worst enemy and it doesn’t always come naturally to some of us.

25. I AM WOMAN – Emmy Meli

Anyone who identifies as a woman needs to listen to this song at least once in their life. It encapsulates every wonderful aspect of being a woman while being and embracing anyone and anything we want to be. Sometimes we just need to rejoice in and appreciate who we are entirely.

26. SUPERBLOOM – MisterWives

Another MisterWives addition, this song is all about resilience, choosing yourself, celebrating your victories, and proving anyone who said you wouldn’t make it wrong.

27. Shake it Out – Florence + the Machine

This is my favorite song of all time, so I had to include it. It has genuinely saved my life on many occasions. By the end of this song you will feel lighter, and hopeful. Sometimes you just have to shake it out, take a breath, move your body, and trust yourself to know that you’re going to be okay.

And there you have it, the greatest ‘In My Feels’ Self-Love Playlist

I hope this playlist helps you when you are in your feels, and brings you hope, compassion, rest, and encouragement. You are capable of amazing things, but it’s okay to not want to be strong all the time. You’re allowed to sit in your emotions, work through things, cry, break down, and do anything else your body needs. Just remember to listen to your body, do what it actually needs, and reach out for help when you need it.

What song from this ‘In my Feels’ playlist is your favorite? Do you have your own playlist for when you’re in your feels? What songs would you add? I’d love to hear them!
