This recipe yields one serving of a matcha latte.
Additional notes will be provided under the recipe, indicated by the asterisks.
I have included a recipe for a hot matcha latte and a cold (or iced) matcha latte.
Hot Matcha Latte Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons (1 Scoop) of Jade Leaf Organic Cafe Style Sweetened Matcha Latte Green Tea Powder*
2-4 Tablespoons Water
1 Cup Milk of Choice (I recommend Oat Milk**)
1 teaspoon Torani Sugar-Free Vanilla Syrup*** or sweetener of choice (optional)
Instructions:
- Put the matcha powder into a mug or microwave safe cup, then the water. Using a Handheld Powerful Milk Frother**** or whisk, stir the matcha powder and water for a few seconds until combined.
- Pour in the milk, and then the sweetener. Stir again with the frother or whisk to combine.
- Put in the microwave for 2 minutes (this may vary depending on your microwave) and froth one last time once it is heated through. Enjoy!
Iced Matcha Latte Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons (1 Scoop) of Jade Leaf Organic Cafe Style Sweetened Matcha Latte Green Tea Powder*
2-4 Tablespoons Water
1 Cup Milk of Choice (I recommend Oat Milk**)
1 teaspoon Torani Sugar-Free Vanilla Syrup *** or sweetener of choice (optional)
Ice (as much or as little as you desire)
Instructions:
- Put the matcha powder into a glass or tumbler, then the water. Using a Handheld Powerful Milk Frother**** or whisk, stir the matcha powder and water for a few seconds until combined.*****
- Pour in the milk, and then the sweetener. Stir again with the frother or whisk to combine.
- Add the cup of ice, and stir with a spoon or straw if desired. Enjoy!

Notes for the Matcha Latte Recipe:
* The Jade Leaf Organic Cafe Style Sweetened Matcha Latte Green Tea Powder is my matcha powder of choice. It best resembles a matcha latte you would get at a coffee shop. I highly recommend it! It is sweetened to make it ‘cafe style’. However, I understand that some people prefer matcha powder alone. I would still recommend the Jade Leaf brand, it’s great quality and great taste. Here’s the Jade Leaf Matcha Powder by itself.
** I highly recommend using Oat Milk in your matcha latte recipe. The flavor of the oat milk goes amazingly with the Jade Leaf Organic Cafe Style Sweetened Matcha Latte Green Tea Powder. They complement each other so well. It’s definitely worth a try! It’s also a thicker milk, so it provides that perfect coffee shop consistency, as well. Side note, oat milk also tastes great with hot chocolate! That being said, the oat flavor does come through pretty well, so you may prefer to add more matcha powder or sweetener to compensate for the flavor.
*** Additionally, vanilla tastes great in matcha lattes, it helps cut the bitterness of the matcha powder without overpowering it. I choose to use Torani Sugar-Free Vanilla Syrup. Since the matcha latte powder I use is already sweetened, I choose to use something that won’t add any more calories. That being said, you may prefer to not use any sweetener at all. Or, you can use any other sweetener you like! The beauty of making it at home, you can make it exactly how you like.
**** Using a Handheld Powerful Milk Frother has changed my matcha latte game when making it at home. I used to stir the matcha powder and water with a spoon, and it would leave clumps of matcha powder and wouldn’t mix with the milk nearly as well. A frother combines everything perfectly and does the work for you. You can even use it to make your matcha latte frothier, also making it coffee shop quality.
Side note, I do recommend getting a Handheld Powerful Milk Frother with a stand. I had one before without one, and never really had a great place to put it. Having one with a stand has made my life easier.
***** It is important to combine the matcha powder with water before combining it with milk. If you add it straight to the milk, it’s more likely to become clumpy and won’t incorporate completely with the milk. That can prevent matcha flavor throughout, or make it so you drink clumps of matcha powder. Stirring it into the water first helps with distribution throughout the entire matcha latte.
